Sympodium hosted two special events at the London Defence Conference 2026. Our second event welcmed a top level delegation from Tokyo, bringing together senior military and government leaders with international experts to discuss innovation and regeneration in Japan’s security sector.
This session explored Japan’s evolving security posture in an increasingly complex global environment, focusing on innovation, industrial transformation, and closer Japan–Europe cooperation.
Speakers included General Koichi Isobe, Chairman of SBIJ (Security Business Innovation Japan); General Shigeo Kaida, Commanding General of TERCOM (Training-Evaluation, Education, Research & Development Command); Mr Nobuaki Miyama, Chief Executive Director of JADI (Japan Association of Defence Industry); and Mr Masami Oka, Chief Executive of GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme).
