What is happening at Sympodium
Munich Security Conference 2026
NextGen Information Environment
The NATO StratCom COE’s NextGen Information Environment report was launched at this year’s Munich Security Conference on the 13th February.
The report was the culmination of a year of in-depth research meetings conducted with many of the world’s leading technology thinkers. It was written by Dr Neville Bolt and Elina Lange Ionatamishvili in an association between NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence and Sympodium Institute for Strategic Communications. Janis Sarts (Director of the COE) and Dr Neville Bolt (Founder & Director of Sympodium) presented a picture of a rapidly changing technology landscape with dramatic implications for democratic states, governments, and their citizens.
Among those attending the session were Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of Latvia; Alexander Stubb, President of Finland; and senior leaders from transnational corporations Goldman Sachs, Bayer AG, IBM, as well as international technology companies and think tanks.

Riga Week | February 2026
Postgraduate Programme 2025-2026
This year’s Postgraduate Programme Study Week marked a distinctive milestone, introducing a dynamic tri-cohort format that brought together three programmes in a shared learning environment.
The study week brought together over 100 students and 11 teaching staff across three parallel tracks: the Postgraduate Programme 2025/2026, the Foundation Programme, and the Strategic Leadership & Strategic Communications Programme (SLSC). Running simultaneously across the week, each track worked to create a unique cross-cohort learning environment.
This multi-track structure enabled meaningful interaction between all three programmes, allowing students to learn beyond their own cohort, build professional networks across the Sympodium community, and engage with a wide range of perspectives and expertise.
